The set has 196 cards, every card is foil, packs hold 4 cards, and a booster box holds 18 packs. The headline card is a newly drawn Misty's Psyduck illustration card.

What is Pokémon Gem Pack Vol. 7?

Gem Pack is a Simplified Chinese booster line made for collectors. Instead of commons and uncommons, every card in every pack is foil, and the set is built around a short list of Pokémon with several versions of each card.

Vol. 7 is the first Gem Pack fronted by Psyduck. Its theme pairs Pokémon with the Trainers they belong to, so expect names like Misty's Psyduck, Team Rocket's Meowth, and Cynthia's Roserade throughout the list.

How the 196-card set is built

The set covers 28 Pokémon. Each Pokémon gets a numbered run of seven cards:

• Cards 1 to 6: six foil versions of the same artwork, each with a different foil treatment. Listings for the set name treatments such as an attribute-pattern foil, a Master Ball pattern foil, and a gold Gem Pack logo stamp.
• Card 7: an illustration card with full artwork (shown as 07/07).

Finishing one Pokémon's run takes all seven cards. Finishing the master set takes all 196. That makes Gem V7 a good binder set: you can chase a single favorite Pokémon, or go for the full page-by-page build.

Misty's Psyduck: the headline card

Psyduck's run is the one most collectors will chase first. Cards 1 to 6 use the Misty's Psyduck artwork by Yuu Nishida, the same art as the English Destined Rivals card. Card 7 is new art by Cona Nitanda, showing Psyduck diving for a beach ball with Misty on the deck behind it.

Early coverage expects the new Misty's Psyduck illustration card to stay exclusive to the Chinese release. That isn't confirmed, so treat it as likely, not certain.

Only 7 of the 28 Pokémon have been shown so far. Besides Psyduck, these illustration cards have been revealed, each reusing artwork first printed in English:

What's in a Gem Pack Vol. 7 booster box?

• 18 booster packs

• Every card is foil, so there are no plain commons

Packs are random. Specific Pokémon, foil versions, and illustration cards are not guaranteed, duplicates happen, and one box will not complete the set. Official pull rates have not been published, so be wary of anyone quoting exact odds before release.

An official Psyduck binder also releases in China the same day, made for storing the set.

Is Gem Pack Vol. 7 worth collecting?
